Blue Pearl Granite.
Blue Pearl Granite is one of the most visually spectacular natural stones in the granite family — a dark blue-grey labradorite-rich rock with a vivid, shifting iridescent shimmer that changes dramatically with lighting and viewing angle.
About Pearl
Blue Pearl Granite is sourced from South India's established blue labradorite granite quarries in Andhra Pradesh, which produce the characteristic deep blue-grey matrix and strong labradorescence effect. The stone has been in export production for decades and is a recognised specification in luxury countertop and feature wall projects worldwide. Blocks are selected for shimmer intensity and colour uniformity before processing. FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.
Geological Profile
Blue Pearl is a coarse-grained anorthositic rock dominated by labradorite-bytownite plagioclase feldspar, with subordinate dark minerals including ilmenite, pyroxene, and hornblende. The spectacular iridescent shimmer — labradorescence — results from thin-film optical interference in the labradorite feldspar crystals, caused by a fine-scale exsolution microstructure in the feldspar. This optical phenomenon produces blue, gold, and green iridescence that shifts with viewing angle and light source. The relatively low porosity of the plagioclase-dominated matrix gives the stone good stain resistance in most applications.
Color & Character
Blue Pearl Granite presents a deep blue-grey to charcoal background with a powerful iridescent shimmer that plays across the surface as the viewing angle changes. The shimmer ranges from a cool blue-violet to warm gold and green depending on the incident light, creating a dynamic optical effect unlike any other natural stone. The surface is composed of large feldspar crystals with visible cleavage faces that together produce the planar shimmer across the slab. Each slab is unique in the distribution and intensity of its labradorescence, making Blue Pearl one of the most individually distinctive natural stones available.

Care & Maintenance
Blue Pearl Granite has moderate porosity and should be sealed with an impregnating sealer at installation, refreshed every 18 months for kitchen and bathroom applications. The iridescent effect is intrinsic to the mineral structure and does not diminish with normal use or cleaning. Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner and dry polished surfaces promptly to prevent water spots that can mask the shimmer effect. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could micro-scratch the polished feldspar faces.
