These Shipping Terms set out how Gemarix Worldwide Pvt Ltd handles the production, packing, shipping, and documentation of every container we send.
1. What we ship
Natural stone products — gangsaw and cutter slabs, tiles, and cut-to-size pieces — across the following categories: marble, granite, sandstone, limestone, and onyx. Stone is sourced primarily from Rajasthan, with additional supply from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat depending on the variety.
2. Order confirmation and production
After a written order confirmation and receipt of the agreed advance payment, production begins. The buyer receives:
- A confirmed production schedule.
- Weekly progress updates by email or WhatsApp.
- Photographs of the actual slabs before packing, for approval.
- Final pre-departure container photographs.
3. Lead times
- Standard stones: eighteen to twenty-five days from confirmed order to vessel loading.
- Custom cuts and specifications: thirty to forty days.
- Mixed-stone containers: lead time is based on the slowest item.
Lead times are good-faith estimates. They may extend due to weather, monsoon disruption to quarrying, port congestion, or other operational factors. We notify the buyer promptly of any expected delay.
4. Quality control
Every order goes through three inspection stages:
- Quarry stage — block selection, color and defect check.
- Cutting stage — slab inspection after gangsaw or cutter processing.
- Pre-packing stage — each slab inspected before being loaded into its crate or A-frame.
Slabs that fail inspection are rejected, not shipped. The buyer receives a photographic record at each stage on request.
5. Packing
Our standard packing is built to survive thirty or more days at sea and rough handling at multiple ports:
- Slabs: steel A-frame supports with high-density foam between each slab. Plastic sheeting against moisture. Corner guards on every edge.
- Tiles and cut-to-size: kiln-dried wooden crates, ISPM-15 compliant. Foam protection. Fumigation certification included in shipping documents for markets that require it.
- Weight and balance: each pallet is weight-calculated to stay within container loading limits and to prevent shift during ocean transit.
6. Loading and ports
- Primary departure ports: Mundra (Gujarat), Nhava Sheva (JNPT, Maharashtra).
- Secondary departure ports: Chennai, on request.
- Container loading is supervised by Gemarix personnel. A complete photographic record is taken before the container is sealed.
7. Documentation
Within forty-eight hours of vessel departure, we provide:
- Bill of Lading (B/L)
- Certificate of Origin (with chamber of commerce attestation)
- Phytosanitary certificate (where required)
- Packing list
- Commercial invoice
- Fumigation certificate, if applicable
- Marine insurance certificate, if CIF or DDP
Any additional document required by the buyer's customs authority can be arranged on request, subject to availability and any fee charged by the issuing authority.
8. Incoterms
We work with the following Incoterms 2020:
- FOB — Free On Board (Indian port). Default for most orders.
- CFR — Cost and Freight (to your port).
- CIF — Cost, Insurance, and Freight.
- DDP — Delivered Duty Paid. Available on request to most destinations.
The Incoterm and the named place are stated on every quotation and invoice.
9. Indicative transit times
After vessel departure:
- Middle East ports: seven to ten days.
- Europe (North range, Mediterranean): eighteen to twenty-two days.
- Americas (East Coast, Gulf): twenty-five to thirty days.
- Americas (West Coast): thirty to thirty-five days.
- Australia: eighteen to twenty-five days.
- Other Asian ports: ten to fifteen days.
These are shipping line schedules and we do not control them.
10. Receipt and inspection
On arrival, we ask the buyer to inspect the container before signing off. Any damage, missing item, or specification deviation should be raised within seven days of arrival, with:
- Clear photographs showing the issue.
- The container number.
- The pre-departure photo reference where applicable.
11. Damage and claims
- Supplier-fault damage (defective stone, packing failure, loading error): replaced or credited at our cost on the next shipment, subject to inspection of the evidence.
- Transit damage (handling at port, container shift in heavy seas, ship damage): covered by the buyer's marine insurance, unless the order is CIF or DDP, in which case our insurance policy applies.
- Natural variation in color, vein, and pattern within stated tolerances is not a defect — see Section 3 of our Terms of Service.
We work in good faith with every claim and prefer to resolve damage with a replacement on the next container rather than financial settlement.
12. Samples
Sample policy is summarized below; full details in our Terms of Service.
- Size: 10×10 cm to A4 size.
- Cost: typically USD 15 to 30 per piece, plus actual air freight.
- Lead time: five to ten days to most destinations.
- Credit: 100% of sample cost is credited against the buyer's first container order with us.
13. Returns
Natural stone is not a returnable product in the consumer sense — once a container is shipped, the stone is the buyer's. Returns are considered only where there is a documented supplier-fault issue under Section 11.
14. Force majeure
Production and shipping schedules may be affected by events outside our reasonable control, including monsoon disruption to quarrying, port strikes, container shortages, government export restrictions, public health emergencies, and similar events. In such cases we notify the buyer promptly and work to a revised schedule.
