Calcite Azul Marble — also known commercially as Sky Blue Marble — is quarried in Rajsamand district, central Rajasthan, within the Aravalli marble belt. The commercial name "Calcite Azul" reflects the Rajsamand stone's cool sky-blue character, distinct within India's marble palette and increasingly specified by international buyers seeking blue-toned natural stone with documented Rajasthan provenance.
Gemarix sources Calcite Azul directly from quarry operators in the Rajsamand belt. The sky-blue character varies block to block depending on mineral concentrations within each quarry section, and project-matched supply requires hands-on selection at the quarry stage. Our direct relationships make it possible to deliver consistent material across export specifications where the cool blue character is integral to design intent.

Calcite Azul is a fine-grained metamorphic marble with a recrystallised calcite matrix carrying cool sky-blue colouration produced by minor concentrations of riebeckite and amphibole-group minerals along with trace iron silicates that shift the visual reading of the stone towards the blue end of the spectrum. The atmospheric, cloud-like distribution of blue tones across the surface is the result of how these accessory minerals were stretched and folded during metamorphism. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.
Calcite Azul slabs present a soft sky-blue field with subtle cloud-like movement across the surface — patterns that read as atmospheric rather than graphic, suggesting summer sky character rather than discrete veining. Some blocks present cleaner, more uniform blue fields; others carry richer movement with deeper blue concentrations alongside paler near-white passages. The overall character is contemplative, cool, and contemporary.
The marble pairs strikingly with contemporary design palettes. Against pale oak, brushed brass, and white walls it provides a serene cool focal point; against blackened steel and dark joinery it reads as luminous and atmospheric. Polished finishes maximise the sky-blue character and produce a high-reflectivity surface; honed finishes pull the surface towards a soft contemplative matte ideal for bathroom and floor applications.
Calcite Azul Marble is most commonly specified for luxury residential bathrooms, hotel spa installations, contemporary feature walls, vanity tops, and book-matched cladding where the cool sky-blue character becomes the central design element. Book-matched installations are particularly effective for vanity walls and shower surrounds where the mirrored blue patterning creates dramatic atmospheric compositions.
Gangsaw slabs (280 × 180 cm) suit large feature cladding installations where the sky-blue character can extend without joints. Cutter slabs (180 × 60 cm) are typical for vanity tops and bathroom surrounds. Book-matched pairs are highly effective and frequently requested — our Rajasthan facility selects adjacent slabs from the same block for projects where mirrored blue patterns enhance the design.
Polished finish maximises the sky-blue character and produces a high-reflectivity surface — most often specified for feature walls and vanity tops. Honed finish softens the surface to a contemplative matte ideal for bathroom and floor applications. Leathered finish introduces gentle surface texture that complements the atmospheric character. Brushed finish is occasionally specified for industrial-contemporary applications.
This stone is supplied in two production formats. Gangsaw slabs are large-format slabs for premium architectural projects requiring continuous surfaces. Cutter slabs are smaller-format slabs optimised for residential installations and tile production.

Custom tile sizes available: 60×60 cm, 60×90 cm, 90×90 cm. Cut to specification at our Rajasthan facility.
Apply a penetrating stone sealer at installation; reseal annually in bathroom and kitchen environments. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner — avoid acidic cleaners and abrasive pads, which etch calcite. Blot spills promptly, particularly wine, coffee, and citrus. The sky-blue colouration is intrinsic to the stone's mineralogy and will not fade under normal interior conditions when correctly sealed.
