Fantasy Brown Marble is quarried in Rajsamand district, central Rajasthan, within the broader Aravalli marble belt. Despite its name, Fantasy Brown is technically a quartzite-rich metamorphic stone with strong marble characteristics — the result of complex geological events that combined sedimentary protoliths under heat, pressure, and silica-rich fluid intrusion. The result is a material of exceptional visual drama: layered brown and grey movement across surfaces that read as sculptural and architectural.
Gemarix sources Fantasy Brown directly from quarry operators in the Rajsamand belt, allowing us to control block selection for project-matched supply. Fantasy Brown's character varies dramatically block to block — some blocks present subtle, restrained brown movement; others carry richer, more theatrical patterns. Direct sourcing lets us match material to project intent rather than ship random catalogue stock.

Fantasy Brown is a quartzite-rich metamorphic stone with marble characteristics, dominated by recrystallised calcite and silica with significant iron oxide and clay-derived mineral concentrations. The brown layers are produced by iron oxide content; the grey bands by carbonaceous material; the lighter veining by recrystallised quartz. The interplay of these mineral concentrations across foliation planes is what produces Fantasy Brown's distinctive sculptural depth. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.
Fantasy Brown slabs present strong directional movement of brown, grey, and pale cream layers — the patterns flow rather than fragment, giving the stone a sense of sculptural depth that few marbles match. Some blocks lean richer brown; others present cooler grey-brown character; book-matched slab pairs produce dramatic mirrored compositions ideal for feature installations.
The marble pairs powerfully with both contemporary and classical design vocabularies. Against pale walls and warm metals, it commands attention as a primary feature material; against darker palettes, it integrates as sculptural texture. Polished finishes maximise the dramatic depth between layers; honed finishes soften the contrast and produce a contemplative read suited to floor applications.
Fantasy Brown Marble is most commonly specified for feature walls, kitchen islands, fireplace surrounds, vanity tops, and book-matched cladding where the dramatic patterning becomes the design feature. Its visual weight makes it best deployed as a focal element rather than a primary floor — used as accent material, it provides the sculptural anchor a space organises itself around.
Gangsaw slabs (280 × 180 cm) are particularly important for this stone, since maximum slab size lets the dramatic patterns extend without joints. Cutter slabs (180 × 60 cm) suit vanity tops and smaller feature installations. Book-matched pairs are available on request — our Rajasthan facility selects and cuts adjacent slabs from the same block for projects where pattern continuity is part of the design intent.
Polished finish maximises the dramatic contrast between layers and produces a high-reflectivity surface — most often specified for feature walls, vanity tops, and fireplace surrounds. Honed finish softens the contrast and produces a contemplative matte suitable for floor applications. Leathered finish introduces gentle surface texture and quiets the visual drama, suiting projects where the patterning should be present but understated. Brushed finish is occasionally specified for rustic-leaning installations.
This stone is supplied in two production formats. Gangsaw slabs are large-format slabs for premium architectural projects requiring continuous surfaces. Cutter slabs are smaller-format slabs optimised for residential installations and tile production.

Custom tile sizes available: 60×60 cm, 60×90 cm, 90×90 cm. Cut to specification at our Rajasthan facility.
Apply a penetrating stone sealer at installation; reseal annually in kitchens and high-use areas. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and soft cloth — avoid acidic cleaners and abrasive pads. Blot spills promptly. Fantasy Brown's quartzite content gives it good stain and scratch resistance compared to pure marbles, but the calcite content still requires sealing for long-term performance in wet areas.
