Grey Mist Marble is quarried in the Udaipur area of southern Rajasthan, within the Aravalli marble belt that has supplied India's premium stone for centuries. Where Udaipur is best known internationally for its pink marbles, the region also produces a range of grey marbles distinguished by the soft atmospheric movement that gives Grey Mist its name — patterns that read as drifting fog rather than discrete veining.
Our facility sources Grey Mist directly from quarry operators in the Udaipur belt, allowing us to select for the misty pattern signature that defines the material. Block-by-block variation is part of the character of this stone, and consistent project-scale supply requires careful quarry-stage selection. Our direct relationships make this curation possible for export buyers specifying the stone for residential and hospitality projects.

Grey Mist is a fine-grained metamorphic marble with a recrystallised calcite matrix and characteristic soft grey patterning. The misty effect is produced by diffuse concentrations of carbonaceous and clay-derived minerals that were stretched and folded during metamorphism, creating gradient transitions rather than sharp vein lines. This is why the material reads as atmospheric rather than graphic — the grey content moves through the field in soft drift patterns rather than discrete bands. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.
Grey Mist slabs present a soft grey field with patterning that reads less like veining and more like atmospheric drift — soft cloud forms and gradient transitions across the surface. Some blocks present subtle, restrained mist effects; others carry richer, more visible grey movement that gives slabs sculptural depth. The overall character is contemplative and contemporary.
The stone pairs particularly well with contemporary minimalist design — against pale oak, brushed brass, and matte white joinery it reads as serene; against darker palettes the mist patterning becomes more visible and adds dimensional depth. Polished finishes deepen the contrast between field and mist; honed finishes pull the entire surface towards a soft cohesive matte ideal for floor applications.
Grey Mist Marble is most commonly specified for contemporary residential flooring, luxury bathroom installations, hotel suite finishes, and feature wall applications where the soft atmospheric patterning becomes a design feature. Book-matched slab pairs are particularly effective for vanity walls and shower surrounds where the mirrored mist patterns create dramatic compositions.
Gangsaw slabs (280 × 180 cm) suit large feature cladding and floor installations; cutter slabs (180 × 60 cm) are typical for vanity tops and bathroom surrounds. Book-matching pairs are available — our Rajasthan facility selects and cuts adjacent slabs from the same block for projects where pattern continuity matters.
Polished finish maximises the contrast between grey field and misty movement, producing a dramatic surface most often specified for feature walls and vanity installations. Honed finish softens the contrast and produces a contemplative matte ideal for bathroom floors and contemporary residential applications. Leathered finish introduces gentle texture and quiets the visual contrast. Brushed finish is occasionally specified for rustic-leaning installations.
This stone is supplied in two production formats. Gangsaw slabs are large-format slabs for premium architectural projects requiring continuous surfaces. Cutter slabs are smaller-format slabs optimised for residential installations and tile production.

Custom tile sizes available: 60×60 cm, 60×90 cm, 90×90 cm. Cut to specification at our Rajasthan facility.
Apply a penetrating stone sealer at installation; reseal annually in bathroom and kitchen environments. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and soft cloth — never acidic cleaners or abrasive pads. Blot spills promptly, particularly wine, coffee, oil, and citrus. The grey mist patterning is intrinsic to the stone's mineralogy and will not change under normal interior conditions when correctly sealed.
