Ice Blue Marble is quarried in the Rajsamand district of central Rajasthan, within the Aravalli marble belt. While the Rajsamand quarries are best known for their white and grey marbles, the region also produces the distinctive cool blue-grey marbles like Ice Blue that have gained recognition in contemporary design markets across Asia, Europe, and North America.
Gemarix sources Ice Blue directly from operators in the Rajsamand belt. The cool blue character of this material is produced by specific mineral concentrations that vary between blocks, making direct quarry-stage selection essential for consistent project supply. Our relationships allow us to select blocks that match project-specific colour intent rather than ship random catalogue stock.

Ice Blue is a fine-grained metamorphic marble with a recrystallised calcite matrix and characteristic cool blue-grey colouration. The blue tones come from minor concentrations of riebeckite and other amphibole-group minerals introduced during metamorphism, combined with trace iron silicates that shift the visual reading of the stone towards the cool end of the grey spectrum. The result is a marble that reads as crystalline and contemporary rather than warm or traditional. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.
Ice Blue slabs present a cool blue-grey field with subtle directional movement and crystalline character. Some blocks lean more strongly blue; others present greyer reads with hints of blue character; the variation is part of the stone's appeal for projects where natural variation is welcomed rather than minimised. The overall character is cool, contemplative, and contemporary.
The marble pairs strikingly with contemporary palettes — against brushed steel, blackened metal, pale oak, and white joinery it provides a cool sculptural counterpoint. Against warmer palettes it adds tension and visual interest. Polished finishes maximise the blue character and crystalline depth; honed finishes pull the surface towards a soft matte that emphasises tonal subtlety over reflectivity.
Ice Blue Marble is most commonly specified for contemporary residential bathrooms, feature walls, vanity tops, hotel spa installations, and luxury kitchen applications where the cool blue character is the design intent. Its visual weight makes it effective as both a primary feature material and a sculptural accent.
Gangsaw slabs (280 × 180 cm) suit large feature cladding and floor installations where the blue character can extend across unbroken surfaces. Cutter slabs (180 × 60 cm) are typical for vanity tops and bathroom installations. Book-matched pairs are available for feature applications where mirrored patterning enhances the contemporary design intent.
Polished finish maximises the blue character and produces a high-reflectivity surface most often specified for feature walls and vanity tops. Honed finish softens the blue read and produces a contemporary matte ideal for floor applications. Leathered finish introduces gentle surface texture, suiting projects where the blue character should be present but understated. Brushed finish is occasionally specified for industrial-contemporary applications.
This stone is supplied in two production formats. Gangsaw slabs are large-format slabs for premium architectural projects requiring continuous surfaces. Cutter slabs are smaller-format slabs optimised for residential installations and tile production.

Custom tile sizes available: 60×60 cm, 60×90 cm, 90×90 cm. Cut to specification at our Rajasthan facility.
Apply a penetrating stone sealer at installation; reseal annually in bathroom and kitchen environments. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner — avoid acidic cleaners and abrasive pads, which etch calcite. Blot spills promptly, particularly wine, coffee, and citrus. The blue colouration is intrinsic to the stone's mineralogy and will not fade under normal interior conditions when correctly sealed.
