Bold, graphic, dramatic — the high-contrast marble of Kelwa.

Origin & Geography

Panda White Marble is quarried in Kelwa, Rajsamand district, central Rajasthan, an established stone-producing village within the Aravalli marble belt. Panda White takes its name from its dramatic visual character — bright white field marked by bold black veining that reads with the high-contrast graphic quality of a panda's distinctive colouration. This dramatic patterning has made it a popular contemporary specification globally.

Our facility sources Panda White directly from quarry operators in Kelwa village, allowing block-by-block selection for vein character and contrast quality. The dramatic patterning varies significantly between blocks, and project-matched supply requires hands-on selection at the quarry stage. Our direct relationships in Kelwa make this curation possible for export specifications where buyers want either restrained or maximally expressive examples of the material.

Geological Profile

Panda White is a fine-grained metamorphic marble with a recrystallised calcite matrix and bold black veining produced by significant carbonaceous mineral concentrations stretched along metamorphic foliation planes. Where most Rajasthani whites carry only minor accessory minerals diffused through the field, Panda White's vein-forming material concentrated into discrete bands during metamorphism, producing the high-contrast graphic patterning that defines the stone. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.

Color & Character

Panda White slabs present a bright white field with bold black veining flowing across the surface in dramatic, often diagonal patterns. Some blocks present restrained black detail; others carry richer, more aggressive patterning; book-matched pairs produce powerful mirrored compositions ideal for feature installations. The overall character is graphic, contemporary, and dramatic.

The marble pairs powerfully with contemporary design vocabularies — against minimalist matte palettes and warm wood tones it provides striking visual focus; in traditional settings it reads as architectural sculpture. Polished finishes maximise the contrast between white field and black veining; honed finishes soften the contrast for projects where the patterning should be present but less aggressive.

Applications

Panda White Marble is most commonly specified for feature walls, kitchen islands, fireplace surrounds, vanity tops, and book-matched cladding where the dramatic patterning becomes the central design element. Its visual weight makes it best deployed as a focal accent rather than a primary floor — used as feature material, it provides the sculptural anchor a space organises itself around.

Gangsaw slabs (280 × 180 cm) are particularly important for this stone, allowing the dramatic veining to extend without interrupting joints. Cutter slabs (180 × 60 cm) suit vanity tops and smaller feature installations. Book-matched pairs are available on request — particularly powerful for fireplace surrounds, feature walls, and vanity backsplashes where mirrored patterning amplifies the visual drama.

Finish Options

Polished finish maximises the dramatic contrast between white and black and produces a high-reflectivity surface — the most frequently specified finish for feature walls and vanity tops. Honed finish softens the contrast and produces a contemporary matte suitable for projects where the patterning should be present but less aggressive. Leathered finish introduces gentle surface texture and quiets the visual drama. Brushed finish is rarely specified for this material.

Care & Maintenance

Apply a penetrating stone sealer at installation; reseal annually in kitchen and bathroom environments. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and soft cloth — avoid acidic cleaners and abrasive pads, which etch calcite. Blot spills promptly, particularly wine, coffee, oil, and citrus. The black veining is integral to the stone's mineralogy and remains stable under normal interior conditions when correctly sealed.
