Rainforest Brown Marble is quarried in the Bidasar area near Sikar, Rajasthan — a desert-belt location whose mineral-rich subsurface produces some of India's most distinctive patterned marbles. The rainforest patterning that gives the stone its name comes from dendritic mineral growth — branching, plant-like crystalline structures that formed when mineral-rich solutions migrated through fractures in the limestone protolith over geological timescales.
Gemarix sources Rainforest Brown directly from quarry operators in the Bidasar belt, allowing block-by-block selection for vein character and pattern quality. The dendritic patterning varies dramatically between blocks, and project-matched supply requires hands-on quarry-stage selection. Our direct relationships in Bidasar allow us to deliver consistent visual character across export specifications where the rainforest patterning is integral to the design intent.

Rainforest Brown is a metamorphic marble with significant dendritic mineral content — recrystallised calcite matrix carrying iron oxide and manganese mineral concentrations that grew in branching plant-like patterns through fractures in the protolith. The dendrites give the stone its distinctive rainforest visual quality: organic, branching, almost botanical in character rather than the linear veining typical of standard metamorphic marbles. Origin and specifications verified by Gemarix.
Rainforest Brown slabs present a rich warm brown field with dendritic vein patterns in darker brown, black, and occasional gold tones. The patterning reads as botanical and organic rather than geometric — branching forms that suggest forest canopy or plant growth rather than mineral veining. Some blocks present subtler patterning; others carry richer dendritic character; book-matched pairs produce particularly dramatic mirrored compositions.
The marble pairs powerfully with traditional, heritage, and biophilic design palettes. Against teak, brass, leather, and warm walls it grounds sculpturally; in contemporary settings it provides organic visual interest as a deliberate feature element. Polished finishes maximise the dendritic depth and warm character; honed finishes soften the contrast and pull the surface towards a contemplative matte.
Rainforest Brown Marble is most commonly specified for feature walls, fireplace surrounds, vanity tops, hotel lobbies, and book-matched cladding where the dendritic patterning becomes the central design element. Its visual weight and organic character make it best deployed as a focal feature rather than a primary floor material.
Gangsaw slabs (280 × 180 cm) are particularly important for this stone — the dendritic patterning needs maximum slab size to extend without interruption. Cutter slabs (180 × 60 cm) suit vanity tops and smaller feature installations. Book-matched pairs are highly effective and frequently requested — our Rajasthan facility selects adjacent slabs from the same block for fireplace surrounds and feature walls where mirrored dendrites enhance the organic effect.
Polished finish maximises the dendritic depth and warm character — the most frequently specified finish for feature walls and vanity applications. Honed finish softens the patterning and produces a contemplative matte suitable for projects where the organic character should be present but understated. Leathered finish introduces gentle surface texture that complements the organic patterning. Brushed finish suits heritage applications.
This stone is supplied in two production formats. Gangsaw slabs are large-format slabs for premium architectural projects requiring continuous surfaces. Cutter slabs are smaller-format slabs optimised for residential installations and tile production.

Custom tile sizes available: 60×60 cm, 60×90 cm, 90×90 cm. Cut to specification at our Rajasthan facility.
Apply a penetrating stone sealer at installation; reseal annually in kitchen and bathroom environments. Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner — avoid acidic cleaners and abrasive pads. Blot spills promptly, particularly wine, coffee, and oil. The dendritic patterning is intrinsic to the stone's mineralogy and remains stable under normal interior conditions when correctly sealed.
